     Hazel L. Langhorn, 76, of Peoria, passed away at 2:14 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

     Hazel was born on February 15, 1933 in Louisiana, MO, a daughter of James and Edna Katherine (Carr) Crowder. She married George L. Langhorn.

     She is survived by her son, Dennis Crowder, Sr. of Peoria; daughters, Julia A. Langhorn of Hawkesbury, Ontario, Jeannie Langhorn of Peoria, GiGi (Roma) Lemon of Peoria and Kikki (Samuel) Moody of Peoria; sisters, Willa Mae Crowder of Peoria and Katherine Wells of Durham, NC; fifteen grandchildren; and several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

     Her parents; husband; five brothers; four sisters; her niece, Marcia L. Young, whom she raised; two grandchildren; and one great granddaughter preceded her in death.

     Hazel retired in 2008, after over twenty-five years of service, as a dietician for Sharon Healthcare in Peoria.

     She enjoyed playing bingo; bowling; watching baseball; listening to Gospel music, especially Mahalia Jackson; and collecting bells. She loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered as a kind, loving and charitable person.

     Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Peoria, with Rev. Alphonso Lyons, Jr. and Elder Michael Watson officiating. Interment will be at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.

     Memorial contributions may be made in Hazel’s memory to the American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery.

     Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Kathryn L. Allen Dyes, Family Assistant through Clary Funeral Home in Peoria.
